What is Bespoke Artwork?
Bespoke Artwork is not a conventional jewellery commission.
It begins with something deeper:
feelings not yet put into words, memories, aspirations.
Through thoughtful dialogue, Tomoko Maeda carefully uncovers the story that lies within each client.
Guided by her artistic language and sculptural vision, that story gradually takes form as a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art.
Rather than fitting gemstones into an existing design,
each work is conceived from the beginning.
Its structure, lines, negative space, and relationship with light are created solely for the individual who will wear it.
Bespoke Artwork is jewellery born where the client's inner story meets the artist's aesthetic vision.
What Defines Bespoke Artwork
1. Every Piece Begins from Nothing
No existing design is reused.
Gemstones and requests are never fitted into a predetermined form.
Each commission begins with a blank page.
The lines, proportions, negative space, and placement of every stone are considered specifically for that one work.
The result is a piece that could never exist for anyone else.
2. Personally Crafted by Tomoko Maeda
From the first conversation to the final finish,
every stage is undertaken personally by Tomoko Maeda.
The impressions gathered through dialogue remain intact throughout the entire creative process,
allowing every detail to become a necessary part of that singular work.
One Commission at a Time
Bespoke Artwork is limited to one commission each month.
This allows sufficient time and complete focus for every stage—
from dialogue and concept development to design, craftsmanship, and finishing.
Every work is created entirely by Tomoko Maeda.

The Bespoke Process
Bespoke Artwork is not about deciding on a design immediately.
It is a process of discovering the story within each client through dialogue,
and allowing that story to become a work of art.
1. Initial Enquiry
Please begin by completing the enquiry form.
You do not need to have a design in mind.
Tell us anything that may become the starting point of the work—
a meaningful occasion, materials you are drawn to, gemstones you love, memories you wish to preserve, or simply how you feel today.
After reviewing your enquiry, we will invite you to a personal consultation if we believe the project is a good fit.
2. Dialogue & Concept Development
We meet either online or in person.
Rather than discussing only shape, materials, or gemstones,
our conversation explores what you hope the jewellery will embody.
Even thoughts that are difficult to express often become important clues in shaping the work.
3. Design Proposal
Based on our dialogue,
Tomoko Maeda develops the central concept for the piece.
Instead of refining countless specifications,
the focus is on discovering the form that feels most natural and inevitable.
Every aspect—
its lines, proportions, negative space, gemstone placement, and relationship to the body—
is considered exclusively for this commission.
4. Quotation & Commission Confirmation
Once the direction of the design has been established,
you will receive a formal quotation together with an estimated production schedule.
Work begins after the proposal has been approved.
5. Creation
Each work is crafted individually by Tomoko Maeda.
Every decision—
from precious metals and gemstones to structure, comfort, and finishing—
is carefully considered to ensure that each element belongs naturally to the work.
Production time varies according to the complexity of the commission.
Most works are completed within several weeks to several months after confirmation.
6. Completion & Delivery
Once the work is complete,
you will have the opportunity to view the finished piece.
It is then presented in TOMOKO MAEDA's signature packaging,
created to accompany its wearer for many years to come.
